Regional Airports is a subsidiary of Isavia ohf., responsible for managing and servicing Icelandic scheduled airports, except Keflavik Airport. While part of a larger family, we operate independently, supported by a service agreement with the Ministry of Infrastructure.

We manage 12 scheduled airports nationwide, including international airports in Reykjavik, Akureyri, and Egilsstaðir, as well as thirty landing sites. By ensuring safe and reliable services, we play a crucial role in Iceland's transportation network.

With specialized knowledge and experience, we operate under a service agreement with the Ministry of Infrastructure, which defines our service levels, operations, and maintenance standards. This highlights our importance in connecting the country.

About us

Our airport projects nationwide adhere to the current five-year transportation plan, outlining essential construction and maintenance tasks. Focus areas include runway, taxiway, and apron maintenance, along with the renewal and upkeep of navigational equipment such as lighting, transmitters, beacons, and buildings. This includes terminals and service buildings used in daily operations.

We regularly update and review flight procedures for all airports and landing sites in the country, providing the latest information in the Icelandic Aeronautical Information Publication. Detailed information for each airport can be found on its respective subpage.

Daily airport operations vary by season. In summer, activities include mowing, bird deterrence, fence work, and minor maintenance. In winter, the focus shifts to snow removal, sanding, ice prevention, and equipment maintenance. Regular fire and rescue service drills are conducted year-round to ensure airport safety.

All scheduled airports are equipped with fire trucks, rescue carts, and necessary maintenance and inspection equipment, underscoring our commitment to safety and service.
